    Moses lived in Avon, Maine before moving to Waterville. This family was plagued by tragedy. Both sons died young in California, the only grandchild Artiella (1847-1864) tumbled to her death off a waterfall near Waterville and then the 2 oldest girls burned to death in a freak fire in Boston that was reported on the front page of the Boston paper.

Teacher Raleigh, North Carolina 1843, merchant Lowell, MA 1845-1850, miner and photography artist, Marysville, California 1862-1863. In 1864 Artie Ella fell from a precipice in Waterville and was killed instantly. He is in 1860 Census of Marysville, CA occ. 'daguerre artist'.
