    Notes:

    Presbury practiced law in Thetford, VT from 1825 - 1837. There is a Sept. 1843 record of Waterville where a Presbury West, Jr. was a witness. Presbury with wife and 3 young children and other adults in 1840 census. They apparently moved in the 1840's to the Jefferson, NH area. He was one of the incorporators of the White Mtn. Railroad under the Charter of 25 Dec 1848. Presbury is of St. Johnsbury, VT in Pembroke History. Living with Presbury and Mercy in 1850 Census of Jefferson, NH is Eliza L. Moore age 38 - all born Vermont - Presbury's occupation, 'lumber dealer'.

    Presbury married Burton, Mercy B. on 25 Dec 1823 in Thetford, VT. Mercy (daughter of Burton, Asa) was born on 2 Jun 1802 in Thetford, VT; died after 1870 in prob. Wauzeka, Crawford, Wisconsin. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Presbury and Francis in 1870 census of Spring Green, Sauk, Wisconsin occ. 'depot agent' with 2 children and Mercey West born 1801 Vermont (mother). They are in 1880 census of Albert Lea, Freeborn, Minnesota occ. 'boot-shoe merchant' with children William and Fanny both born Wisconsin.

    A. B. West with wife and family in 1870 census of Wauzeka, Crawford, Wisconsin occ. 'R. R. Agent'. Living with them is Mercy B. West born 1801 Vermont (mother). They are in 1880 census of Shenandoah, Page, Iowa - occ. 'R. R. clerk'. Asa may have have married twice as wife in 1880 is just an inital that is illelligible but it has her born in England.

    Asa married Newton, Eliza before 1870. Eliza was born in C 1839 in Canada; died in 1876 in prob. Shenandoah, Iowa; was buried in Rose Hill Cem., Shenandoah, Iowa. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
