- Samuel was a lawyer in Waterville 1826-1835 and Hallowell 1835-1844. He was a Bowdoin College honorary graduate, 1838. They removed in 1844 to Portland, ME. He was Justice of the Maine State Supreme Court 1847-1854 and Governor of Maine 1856-1857. Samuel and family in 1860 census of Boston, MA. Probably buried in Mt. Auburn Cem., Cambridge, MA as they have a son buried there.
