- Francis attended Colby College 1854-1855. Civil War, Brevet Brigadeer General, 3rd ME Vol Inf. Frank was said to have introduced the manufacture of wood pulp into Maine, building the first mill for that purpose in Benton Falls. Member Maine House of Representatives, 1881.
